value city.

The Value City has used a mixture of typology and program to imagine a new version of the city. One which has learned from history and past mistakes to formulate a system which adds ‘value’ to the current people, their life, and the future lives of those who will live there. The ‘CMA’ or Central Metropolitan Area’s value is put into how it provides spaces for people to live, work, relax and enjoy, whilst simultaneously adapting to the future of its residents in the systematic layout of its blocks. Blocks and block types are each categorised by their individual agenda in the wider function of the city. The ‘First Home Renter’s’, ‘Show Me the Money’ & ‘Tunnel Vision’ explore how both temporary and permanent accommodation, commerce, recreation, public space, education and cultural spaces are woven into the fabric of the city to prevent one-use zoning and static use of space and resources. These three different block types rearrange these programs in different ways to change character and identity within the city. Together the block types distribute function and program around the city, allowing those who inhabit it to decide what model suits them and how it will suit them for the future.
